The councilor of the Popular Party in the Arrecife City Council, Ángela Hernández Cabrera, has presented a battery of questions to the capital's Mayor to explain the reasons why he has not yet made available to the Cabildo the necessary land for the construction of the future promenade that will connect the Los Mármoles dock and Puerto Naos.
According to Hernández Cabrera, there is a subsidy of 900,000 euros that has been provided by the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands to carry out this promenade, which will facilitate the access of tourists from cruises to the center of Arrecife. "This is an absolutely necessary work and highly demanded by different social sectors", says the popular councilor, who also highlights that the subsidy transferred by the Ministry of Tourism to the Cabildo is nominated, "so if the work is not carried out within a certain period, this money will be lost".
In this sense, the Popular Party regrets that, as recognized by the Vice President of the Island Council and Councilor for Public Works, Fabián Martín, "the works of the promenade cannot yet be tendered or executed, because the Arrecife City Council has not ceded the necessary land".
For Ángela Hernández, this fact demonstrates the apathy and lack of interest of the City Council itself, which is causing economic items and subsidies to be lost to build necessary infrastructures in the capital.
According to Hernández, "it is incomprehensible that, on the one hand, the capital's government team demands money from the autonomous executive to face important works in Arrecife, and on the other hand, lets subsidies escape for not fulfilling its commitments".
