The Popular Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote presented this Wednesday at a press conference the management report of the first two years of the current mandate, emphasizing "the fulfillment of the electoral program and the real transformation of the island institution, with outstanding progress in the different areas managed by the populars."

The spokesperson for the Popular Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ángel Vázquez, who was accompanied by councilors María Jesús Tovar, Francisco J. Aparicio; Juan Monzón and Jacobo Medina, stressed that “we are demonstrating that the Popular Party knows how to govern, knows how to manage and keeps its word”. “This Cabildo works because there is a responsible team, focused on solving the real problems of citizens and not on empty headlines”, he added.

During the appearance, the popular spokesperson reviewed the main "milestones" achieved by the areas he manages within the government group. Among them, he highlighted the record execution of the investment chapter (almost 100% in 2024), under the direction of Finance of the vice president María Jesús Tovar, as well as the approval of the two highest and most social budgets in the history of the Cabildo.

In addition, Vázquez also valued the recovery of the Island Roadside Service, the rehabilitation of numerous strategic roads and the opening of the Island Water Sports Center. In the latter case, the recovery of the Heraclio Niz wrestling ground was also highlighted, as well as the implementation of seven lines of competitive concurrence that have also been increased compared to the previous year.

Likewise, emphasis was placed on the modernization of public procurement, the promotion of European Next Generation funds, the implementation of the Lanzarote Urban Agenda and the activation of prevention and equipment campaigns of the Security and Emergency Consortium.

In the case of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers, Ángel Vázquez, as councilor of the area as well, stressed the “recovery of a public company that was completely unstructured and that today presents benefits, projection and stability”. He also recalled "the boost" to local gastronomy, the updating of the collective agreement, the regulation of internal procedures and the "commitment to sustainability, accessibility and the conservation of the artistic legacy of César Manrique."

“We are clear about where we are going: a modern Lanzarote, with opportunities, that protects its identity and looks to the future with determination”, said Vázquez. “The Popular Party is fulfilling and will continue to do so. Not from sterile confrontation, but from daily work and commitment to the people of Lanzarote”, he concluded.

With this balance, the Popular Group "reaffirms its will to continue leading an efficient, transparent public management oriented to the challenges of the island, thus consolidating its role as a responsible and useful government force for Lanzarote."
