The Popular Party in the Council of Lanzarote has once again requested the urgent repair of the LZ-703 road, better known as Los Hervideros. For the councilor and candidate for the Presidency of the institution, Jacobo Medina, “it is unacceptable that after two years of closure that have already been completed, the government of Dolores Corujo has been unable to find a solution and be able to restore traffic on this road.”
According to Medina's complaint, “the residents and merchants of El Golfo do not deserve the lack of response and, above all, the silence that the socialists in the Cabildo have kept for a year and a half”. “They have been and continue to be the most affected by the closure of the road, it means the loss of one of the most direct connections they have with the town of Playa Blanca and with the damages that this entails from an economic and mobility point of view", he points out.
The former Minister of Public Works at the time of the sinkhole due to erosion and waves, in February 2021, believes that “more than enough time has passed to study and adopt a decision” that, he hopes, “should involve maintaining the two lanes of traffic that existed until now.”
“What we fear is that this delay is due to Corujo's submission to the Sánchez government and his interest in avoiding any type of tension or confrontation with Coasts and Madrid, something that the president has already accustomed us to, who acts more like a PSOE secretary than as president of all the people of Lanzarote”, he explains.
“It is definitely a shame that they talk so much about a quality destination and are not capable of solving a problem that fully affects a road of strategic relevance from a tourist point of view”, he makes clear.
