The Popular Party of Lanzarote demands that the Government of Spain take urgent measures in the face of the lack of police officers suffered by the César Manrique - Lanzarote airport, generating "possible dangerous situations that increase on dates of increased flights" as occurs on this Assumption holiday.
The popular people of Lanzarote thus show their concern after the hundreds of complaints received both by passengers visiting the Lanzarote airport and by the State Security Forces, who "are sometimes overwhelmed in different episodes due to the small number of troops they have".
In addition, this situation generates a serious problem of delays and long waits for passengers when passing through police controls, especially those who do not belong to the European Union and who suffer the delay when reviewing passports.
In this way, the Popular Party of Lanzarote "shows solidarity with the police and civil guard unions, who have been denouncing this situation for months, which causes them serious situations of stress and incapacity due to the lack of personnel, while the Ministry of the Interior turns a deaf ear to their requests."
It should be noted that this request is not a whim or a point of view of the State Security Forces themselves, but it is the European Union itself that, given the characteristics of the Lanzarote airport, recommends almost twice the number of police officers currently at the César Manrique - Lanzarote airport.
Finally, the PP adds that they will "continue to defend and vindicate the rights of the police and civil guards who work in the island territory, and demand that the Government of Spain take the appropriate and urgent measures to tackle this problem."
