The Popular Party of Lanzarote held a rally at 12 noon this Tuesday at the island headquarters, where they observed a minute of silence in memory of their colleague Isabel Carrasco, who was murdered this Monday in León.
Carrasco, who was president of the León Provincial Council and the top person in charge of the PP in that province, died after being shot several times in the street, while she was heading from her home to the PP headquarters in the capital of León. This same Monday, a mother and daughter were arrested as alleged perpetrators of this crime. Both are members of the PP and the young woman worked in the Provincial Council, but had been fired.
In Lanzarote, the populars have decided to suspend the campaign for two days due to this event, which according to the Police could be due to revenge for personal reasons. "There are no words to describe the bewilderment and sadness that Isabel's death has produced in all of us, and even less so in the circumstances in which it occurred. A violent act can never be a response and is absolutely unjustifiable," said the island president of the PP, Ástrid Pérez.
Coalición Canaria has also expressed its "condolences" for the death of Isabel Carrasco "to her family and the Popular Party" and on Monday announced the suspension of the electoral events that it had planned for that day.
