The councilors of the Popular Party of Yaiza, Juan Monzón and Guayo Rodríguez, denounce the complaints they are receiving from residents and owners of shops and restaurants on Papagayo Avenue in Playa Blanca, because "it has been without public lighting for more than a week."
The affected area is the one between the roundabout at the entrance to Calle Limones and the church. "This blackout also affects the playground, which has been recently remodeled and lacks its own lighting. Since dusk, children have been playing practically in the dark," the councilors point out.
Parking of the new CEO Playa Blanca
On the other hand, they warn that "the lighting of the parking lot of the new CEO of Playa Blanca, which has come into operation this year, is not turned on either." In this regard, the PP recalls that these facilities "are used for extracurricular sports activities, and that when the children leave, parents must pick them up with the flashlights of their mobile phones or with the lights of their cars."
For the populars, the "incoherence" of "leaving several municipal rooms lit all night, due to the energy expenditure, while those that are really needed are not turned on at any time" is surprising. The PP demands that the mayor Oscar Noda "take action on the matter and restore public lighting as soon as possible."
