The Popular Group in the Arrecife City Council has warned of the delay that is accumulating again in the payment of rent aid to families evicted from their homes in the Titerroy neighborhood. A situation that the populars consider "intolerable" because they assure that they are talking about the "same families who last year had to wait eleven months for the City Council to pay them the money they were owed for this concept."
A year of waiting that the populars insist "even put two families on the verge of eviction last November." that "even put two families on the verge of eviction last November." "Now, after paying what was owed, bewilderment and concern return again as a four-month delay accumulates in the perception of said aid," indicates the municipal spokesperson for the populars, Dácil Garcias.
The councilor of the Popular Party accuses the Government of PSOE, CC and PIL of "putting at risk the stability and well-being of families due to an absolutely irresponsible management of their public commitments and obligations." She adds that "they are already going through enough as for the six affected families to have to be knocking on the doors of the town hall month after month to demand that the Mayor, Eva de Anta, and the rest of the government, pay them the aid they owe them."
They fear it will get worse
"The worst thing and the fear is that, with the background there is, the four months could turn into another whole year of waiting," Garcias points out.
The PP recalls that it is not the first time that they have denounced the negligence of the municipal government team in matters of Housing, since the problems with rentals are added to also "the neglect" with respect to the project to rehabilitate the homes of Valterra and Titerroy.
In this sense, Dácil Garcias highlights the assessment that the Deputy of the Common in the Canary Islands, Jerónimo Saavedra, has recently made on this matter, and which coincides with the approach expressed by the Popular Party throughout this mandate. "It is appreciated that the Deputy of the Common, who has also followed the problem, agrees that the delay that is accumulating is very serious and that there has been negligence on the part of the Arrecife City Council," Garcias points out.
Ministry Extension
Saavedra has confirmed that the Ministry of Development has agreed to provide an extension until December 31 of this year, as the Senator had expressed in a recent visit to the Mayor, Eva de Anta.
"She has the deadlines, she has the money, she has everyone's willingness to collaborate, join efforts and definitively promote the rehabilitation of the homes. It is only a matter of the Government wanting to and starting to work," says the popular spokesperson.
