The new facilities of the Civil Guard and the Local Police in Playa Honda are now open to the public. The offices, located on San Borondón street, will be open from Monday to Friday, in order to increase citizen security in the town.
The opening ceremony was attended by the chief colonel of the Civil Guard Command of Las Palmas, Francisco Espinona, the chief captain of the Third Company of the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise, David Ramos, the island director of the General State Administration, Orlando Suárez, and the mayor of San Bartolomé, Marcial Martín. Also attending the event were the sub-inspector of the Local Police of San Bartolomé, Silverio Reyes, officers and several agents of the Local Police, together with members of the Civil Guard of San Bartolomé.
Francisco Espinosa informed the attendees that the office will provide service to the residents of the town and that it will bring the Civil Guard closer to the population, in order to improve security. "The Civil Guard and the Local Police will work in coordination and this collaboration will optimize resources in these shared facilities. The presence of the Civil Guard will not be limited exclusively to the presence in the office, but will be transferred to the streets of the town, seeking proximity and closeness to the citizen, which will affect the improvement of security and efficiency," he said
The island director of the State Administration, Orlando Suárez, took the opportunity to thank the Municipal Corporation of San Bartolomé and the Civil Guard "for the collaboration and sensitivity they have shown so that these facilities are a reality and that they open their doors jointly with the Local Police to provide information and offer greater security to the residents of Playa Honda, as well as to strengthen their collaboration with the Local Police of the Island." Thus, he positively valued the commissioning of these facilities, "since Playa Honda is the second largest population center of Lanzarote and thus security is improved in our streets."
The mayor, Marcial Martín, on behalf of the entire Corporation, expressed his satisfaction with the opening of these facilities, "in a central and very accessible area for all residents, close to the school, nursery, municipal offices, Santa Elena square, playgrounds, church and clinic." He also thanked the collaboration of the Island Directorate, Civil Guard and Local Police. "These offices are a response to the constant demand of residents and to the improvements in security planned by this Municipal Corporation."
