The Renovating Movement of Tinajo has once again demanded that the mayor "tell the truth about what is happening with the garbage collection contract and stop deceiving the residents and the opposition." And, far from being resolved, he says that the situation "has continued to worsen, without the mayor and the Cleaning Councilor giving answers or solutions."
In fact, the party denounces that Jesús Machín "has taken a further step in the opacity that is surrounding this issue and has signed a new and dark contract with the same company that has been failing to comply for months, taking advantage of the state of alarm and using the emergency route", when a new tender should have been called since last year.
"The mayor has been without giving real explanations and without telling the truth for months. He is hiding information about this matter and has not even delivered the documentation that was requested before the state of alarm was declared," questioned the spokesperson for the Renovating Movement of Tinajo, Antonio Morales, who recalls that on March 9 a Plenary Session was held on this issue at the request of the opposition.
"Everything is too strange"
"In that Plenary Session they did not give us the contract file that we had previously requested, nor have they given it to us to date," recalled Morales, who regrets that he still has not received any type of documentation. "They kicked balls out and the only thing they told us was that the contract had ended and that they had made an extension, but they didn't even clarify under what conditions," criticized the councilor, who denounces that they have now come across this new "surprise".
"It is inexplicable that another emergency contract is made with the same company that they know has been failing to comply and has not done its job. Everything is too strange," warns the party spokesperson.
In addition, he recalls that the mayor has been assuring since last summer that the specifications for the new tender "were about to be released" and that it would be finished by October. "We are in May and the specifications still have not appeared. It seems to us a negligence, an incapacity and a lack of respect on the part of the mayor," questions Antonio Morales, who asks Jesús Machín to "stop lying and clarify what is happening."
"They still don't collect all the garbage"
"The most serious thing of all is that they still don't collect all the garbage," warns the spokesperson for the Renovating Movement of Tinajo, who has been denouncing for months that the service is not being provided correctly, having gone several days without garbage being collected. Now, he says that the company's staff is working, but "they fulfill their working day and leave, leaving waste uncollected, because the company is not paying them overtime."
"From what the unions tell us, they are no longer paid and they also have overtime pending collection for several months," explains the councilor, who again demands that a solution be given.
"The residents pay their taxes religiously and what we also expect is that the mayor and the Cleaning Councilor take into account the poor garbage collection service that has been provided and give the residents a bonus. Because it is not fair that a tax is being paid and they are not provided with a good service," Morales has demanded.
