Molina Orosa Hospital celebrates its 30th anniversary with a tribute to professionals

The Doctor José Molina Orosa General Hospital of Lanzarote, attached to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, held a tribute event this Thursday to commemorate its 30 years of history, and to thank the work of the professionals who have been active since its opening.

The Minister of Health, José Manuel Baltar, present at the event, congratulated all the staff who have worked during these three decades in the hospital center, "a period that has meant a radical change in the way of conceiving and perceiving care on the Island," he said.

Baltar highlighted the commitment of the professionals "to provide the best possible health care and advance towards excellence in care." He also valued the growth of the hospital in these three decades, not only in terms of physical space, but also "in the number of professionals, portfolio of services and number of patients treated," which in his opinion shows that "the line of work carried out is the appropriate one and it must continue to be emphasized."

"An important qualitative leap"

In this sense, he stressed that "in these 30 years, the Molina Orosa has made an important qualitative leap, going from having 162 beds to the current 290, which gives an idea of the increase in activity that it allows."

A growth that he affirmed has given "a qualitative leap with the integration of the Insular Hospital into the Canary Islands Health Service" through the agreement reached at the end of 2018 between the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, "which allowed its 177 workers to join the 1,192 of the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital, making the family of health professionals on the Island even larger."

During the event, the director of the Lanzarote Health Area, Erasmo García, and the manager of the Health Services of the Lanzarote Health Area, Raúl Otín, also thanked the work of all the staff who have worked during all these years and stressed that the Hospital has "a great future ahead."

The event included the broadcasting of a video summary of the history of the hospital's 30 years of operation, which showed the physical evolution of the hospital center with the expansions and modifications carried out "to promote activity and quality of care," as well as the intervention of some professionals who have provided their services to the population of Lanzarote since the hospital was inaugurated three decades ago.

Musical performances

After the presentation, and following the line of the Management of Health Services of the Health Area of Lanzarote to make visible the talent of its workers, there was a trumpet performance by Jesús Bernal and his son Hugo Bernal Barrera, who performed the song 'My Way' by Frank Sinatra.

The final touch of the event was given by the Gerencia's singing group, formed by workers and retirees, who performed the song 'Brindis', to congratulate the hospital for its three decades of existence.
