Due to the execution of the works to duplicate the section of the LZ-1 road between the Arrecife Ring Road and Tahíche, this Tuesday traffic will be channeled between the link of the Arrecife Ring Road and the Glorieta de la Fundación César Manrique along the recently executed section. This was reported by the Ministry of Public Works of the Government of the Canary Islands, which points out that "the detour offers more comfort and safety to users" and "will be carried out in both directions of traffic."

The changes of direction in this section will continue to be carried out, as until now, through the roundabout of the Foundation and the link of the LZ-3.

In addition, the Ministry explains that direct access to homes and adjacent streets has been canceled, so they must be accessed through the new roads built for this purpose from the new roundabout, located between the Foundation's and the beginning of the work.

The works are progressing at a good pace

The duplication of the Arrecife -Tahíche road is included in the Collaboration Agreement on Roads signed between the Government of the Canary Islands and the Ministry of Development. The works were awarded to the UTE formed by Dragados and Horinsa for a budget of 16,433,738 euros.

In essence, according to the Government of the Canary Islands, "the project consists of the duplication of the road in a section of 3.6 kilometers in length that supports a very high traffic density for the conditions that it meets today. The section on which it is acting runs through an eminently urban environment, in which the adjoining buildings leave in different points the space just for the road to pass."

The trunk of the new road will coincide with the current one, with slight fluctuations to adapt to the contour conditions. Between the beginning and the end of the trunk there will be four roundabouts, two of them newly built.

The new road will avoid direct entrances and exits to the road from the adjacent properties and roads through auxiliary roads, which will allow residents to reach the trunk of the road through the roundabouts.

The section of the Arrecife - Tahíche road trunk will be composed of two roads of seven meters wide each, a three-meter median, two-meter outer shoulders, one-meter inner shoulders, and five-meter lateral sidewalks.

Visual and acoustic isolation

"Both the landscaping treatment and the distribution of the transverse section of the new road have been designed in accordance with the eminently urban characteristics of the environment through which it runs, including a treatment that ensures adequate visual and acoustic isolation of the inhabited areas of its margins," explain from the regional Executive.

The General Directorate of Road Infrastructure has also taken into account the provision of specific areas for pedestrian traffic throughout the project area, a service that the area currently lacks.
