The mayor of Arrecife, Cándido Reguera, assured this Wednesday on Radio Lanzarote that "he cannot say absolutely anything" about the investigation opened by the Prosecutor's Office on invoices and contracts under suspicion of this City Council, most of them carried out under his management. The mayor has limited himself to saying that the Prosecutor's Office has requested "documents" that have been "sent" to them.
"Obviously, this is information that they (the Prosecutor's Office) should know and only them. If they request documentation, it is passed on to them," said Cándido Reguera, who assured that he does not know what the Prosecutor's Office is investigating. "I don't know the information, nor can I know it. And if I did know it, as you will understand, it is confidential," he indicated.
What is known for the moment is that several technicians from the Arrecife City Council, including the secretary and those responsible for Contracting, Intervention and Treasury, went to the Arrecife Courts last week, within the framework of a new investigation opened by the Prosecutor's Office. The prosecutor has requested documentation from the City Council related to invoices and contracts carried out from 2008 onwards.
"This information is in the Courts and it will be there where what has to be established is established," said the mayor of Arrecife.
