The Platform of the Municipality of Haría has demanded that priority be given to patients traveling to receive treatment on flights from Lanzarote to Gran Canaria.
In this regard, the formation applauds that the flights to Gran Canaria have been reduced to two per route, because it considers that it is a measure "necessary to avoid the dissemination of positive cases" of coronavirus "and the expansion of the disease", but believes that "it has not been taken into account that our reference hospitals are there and that some treatments cannot be postponed."
"Have you thought about what a patient who has necessarily had to travel to receive their radiotherapy treatment can do until the next flight in the afternoon? They should not stay in the hospital to avoid contagion, there are no cafes or restaurants to eat, there are no open shopping centers, they cannot walk...", points out the Platform of the Municipality of Haría.
Thus, the formation suggests that "the situation of these patients be taken into account and the schedules be necessarily adapted" or a viable alternative be sought, "such as a specific space in the airport with free catering service, where they can rest and eat properly until their return home".
"We cannot further aggravate the situation of these patients for not having a reference hospital with these services on our island", concludes the Platform.
