The TUI Group, the leading tour operator group in Europe, has awarded the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real the "Environmental Champion 2008" award, for its concern for the care of the natural environment. Among the competitors were the best TUI holiday resorts from 22 countries that have implemented ecological hotel management.
The Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real wins a new recognition that not only rewards quality and care for the environment, but also includes sustainability requirements, a TUI environmental checklist and the level of customer satisfaction with environmental issues. Requirements that the establishment meets perfectly thanks to its various actions with the region of Fuerteventura. These include sponsoring the loggerhead turtle in Cofete, south of Fuerteventura, and the activities that the hotel organizes based on visits to the island to learn about the idiosyncrasies of Fuerteventura.
Thus, the "Environmental Champion 2008" award is added to the one achieved this year as the first company in Fuerteventura to obtain the "Biosphere Certification". To these two awards is added the Award of Excellence for the Best Hotel in Europe 2008 awarded by Condé Nast Johansens, Best SPA 2007 and the Canary Islands Award for Quality 2008.
