The Council of Ministers, which met this Thursday in an extraordinary session, has dictated the prohibition of entry into Spain of passenger ships from Italy, as well as cruises of any origin that are destined for Spanish ports. The Government is taking this decision as an exceptional measure to limit the spread and contagion by COVID-19, according to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda.
In the case of cruises, they will have until midnight on Saturday to Sunday to enter a port in the country for the sole purpose of allowing the disembarkation of citizens who wish to do so, who will not be able to re-embark. For passenger ships from Italy, the measure comes into effect this same midnight. In principle, the restrictions will remain in place until 23:59 on March 26.
This measure will have a temporary nature of 14 days that may be extended for additional periods not exceeding 14 days and evaluated periodically taking into account the evolution of the epidemic worldwide and, especially, in Italy.
