After years of waiting and after many delays, the first goats have finally started to leave the town of Soo this Thursday, to settle in the new corrals built by the Teguise City Council. The transfer will be carried out gradually, but for the moment it has already begun with several animals that have premiered the new facilities.
The works of the corrals finished in November 2012, after several periods with the works paralyzed and the bankruptcy of the awarded company. Finally, another construction company finished the works and the City Council announced then that the transfer of the goats could begin in January 2013.
However, last April some "complementary works" were awarded for a value of about 200,000 euros (the initial project was valued at 600,000), introducing some changes proposed by the farmers themselves, according to the City Council at that time.
Now, with these new works also completed, the expected departure of the goats from the town of Soo has begun to be a reality, at least with the transfer of a first batch.
