The Plenary of the Consortium of Security, Emergencies, Rescue, Prevention and Extinction of Fires of Lanzarote, meeting this Friday in an extraordinary plenary session, has signed the beginning of the file to open the bidding for what will be "the largest investment in vehicle fleet in the history of this public entity."
This was announced by the Security Councilor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and president of the Consortium, Marcos Bergaz. "This initiative is excellent news that effectively certifies the largest investment in equipment and vehicles that the Consortium has had during its 14 years of history, following the policy of improving human and material resources that we set as an objective," adds the councilor.
From the Cabildo they point out that in the breakdown of the next tender, which this Friday begins its file thanks to the approval of the collegiate body of the entity, there are distributed in different lots "something more than a dozen vehicles, some of great impact due to their cost and operational scope."
"We are talking about a planned investment of 1,580,176 euros, paid for by a subsidy from the Cabildo de Lanzarote, for whose tender we already have all the documentation and the necessary specifications for the procedure. In the formal aspect, we must clarify that as the measure implies a cost higher than 10% of the ordinary income of the Consortium, today the plenary has been the competent body to initiate this unprecedented file since the creation of the entity," Bergaz detailed.
From the Cabildo they point out that the new units will be destined to strengthen both the Central Fire Station of Argana and the South Park in Yaiza.
Likewise, from the Corporation they point out that in recent months, eleven new professional firefighters have joined the staff of the Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote, and that even several corporals have entered service. Currently the fire department is made up of a total of 48 professionals.
Material endowments “more than necessary”
The Security Councilor has insisted on the "satisfaction" that it means for the Cabildo de Lanzarote, as the maximum manager of the Consortium, but also for the seven municipalities and the Autonomous Government, "to continue the consolidation of the material benefits that we deposit in a great human team, at the service of the Lanzarote society 24 hours a day during the 365 days of the year". "It is a valuable work that consists of ensuring the safety of property and people of Lanzarote and La Graciosa," Marcos Bergaz remarked.
Finally, the Councilor of the Cabildo recalls the usual deliveries of first aid equipment, together with semi-automatic external defibrillators, which have been made to the municipalities of the Island to "improve the response capacity to cardiac emergencies".
“This and other material endowments promoted by the Security Consortium ultimately seek the same objective: to support our municipalities and citizens so that, in the event of an emergency, we are every day in a better position to act and avoid personal injury that nobody wants”, Bergaz concludes.
