On the afternoon of Thursday, February 1, the president of Coalición Canaria in Lanzarote, Mario Pérez, and his counterpart in Fuerteventura, Víctor Alonso, held a meeting in Playa Blanca, Yaiza. After the meeting, the Standing Committees of the formation in the two islands ratified the decision to jointly propose Miguel Cabrera, from Majorera, as a candidate for the presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands.

Both Mario Pérez and Víctor Alonso announced last week their intention to "end the alternation between Gran Canaria and Tenerife" and added that this proposal "will bring the unity and balance that the Canary Islands needs."

Both nationalist leaders agreed that both Lanzarote and Fuerteventura "are already of age and, therefore, the time has come for the non-capital islands to be a political benchmark for the Archipelago."

Those responsible for what is now known as the Eastern Axis of Coalición Canaria confirmed that "they will respect the decision adopted by the National Political Council, however, they insisted that "we hope that Miguel Cabrera will be the next candidate for the Government of the Canary Islands because he is a qualified person and, we are sure, he will represent the interests of the Canary Islands and all Canarians."

For the moment, Miguel Cabrera's candidacy has the support of the Standing Committees of CC in Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. This represents 56 of the 123 votes that make up the National Political Council.
