The Official Bulletin of the Province of Las Palmas (BOP) publishes this Friday the call for the award of the works to be carried out in the Historic Center of the Villa de Teguise, within the De Plaza En Plaza project. The project is part of the Sectorial Program for the Promotion of Open Areas of the Canary Islands.

The De Plaza en Plana project, promoted by the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the General Directorate of Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, will involve an economic investment of 700,000 euros. It contemplates the works to replace the stamped concrete with basaltic soil and to bury the electrical and telephone wiring in the Maciot de Bethencourt, Clavijo and Fajardo squares. The execution period of these works will be three months.

According to the publication in the BOP, companies interested in bidding for this project have a period of 26 days to submit their proposals to the Cabildo de Lanzarote.

The Councilor for Commerce of the Teguise City Council, Lourdes Cabrera, has stated that in the coming days the residents of the areas affected by the works will "be able to know through visual resources what the transformation of one of the most important areas within the Historic Center of La Villa will be like." "It is necessary for them to know that during the execution period commercial stability will be guaranteed, since right in those squares there are businesses that for three months will see the daily life of that space altered," he said. On the other hand, Cabrera has also expressed her satisfaction for getting the Plaza en Plaza project out to tender "before the end of this legislature."
