The Board of Directors of the Las Palmas Port Authority has approved the call for tenders for the construction and operation of nautical-recreational infrastructures in the Naos dock. The intention is for private initiative to take charge of the execution of a large marina and to call an open tender so that each company can propose its project to compete for this concession.

The approval of the aforementioned tender will complement the construction works of the Arrecife Cruise Ship Pier, whose first phase is in the execution period and has a budget of close to seventeen million euros.

The president of the Port Authority, Javier Sánchez-Simón, assured that this decision will ensure that Arrecife has "a marina that will perhaps be the most important in the Canary Islands." "It will be a great wintering center for large yachts," he indicated, while saying that the island will have a port "of maximum level with all the accessory services required by this type of facilities."

The president of the first institution of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, has expressed his "enormous satisfaction" for this call, which was approved last Friday. "This initiative comes to respond to a need in terms of port infrastructure of the capital of the island, widely and historically demanded by different social and economic sectors of Lanzarote, so we must be congratulated," he said.
