Somos, through its Secretary of Organization, Borja Rubio, has lamented the situation experienced by the company Harinera Lanzaroteña, which has initiated proceedings before the General Directorate of Labor of the Government of the Canary Islands to undertake an Employment Regulation File (ERE) on its entire staff. Somos Lanzarote warns that "the industrial sector of Lanzarote is being dismantled due to the economic concentration in the capital islands, which, in the opinion of the formation, seek to make captive markets, of consumers and not of producers, to the respective peripheral islands." The formation criticizes the "fraudulent use of REA subsidies and transportation" and consider that "they are the system to consolidate an unbalanced market in the archipelago".

"The malicious use of the REA and aid to the transport of goods is the mechanism of a system that seeks to sharpen and consolidate inequalities within the Canary territory. In this case, the critical situation of companies such as Harinera Lanzaroteña is due to an attempt to centralize the industrial economy in Gran Canaria and Tenerife at the cost of making Lanzarote and the rest of the capital islands captive consumer markets," says Borja Rubio.

"The Canary Islands of Coalition: imbalance and centralism"

Somos Lanzarote has also accused Coalición Canaria, which has held the Presidency of the Autonomous Community since 1993, of "increasing the gap between the central islands and the rest." According to the island organization, "Coalición Canaria focuses its investment in health, social and educational matters in Gran Canaria and Tenerife, and also, through proposals such as the total bonus for the transport of goods, perpetuates the benefits of its economic elites."

"The Coalición Canaria project for this land begins in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and ends in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, hence, after 25 years of its government in the Autonomy, the gap between the capital islands and the rest has not stopped increasing. The dismantling of the industry of Lanzarote, as well as the deficiencies in health, social and educational infrastructures, has names and surnames: Coalición Canaria" concludes Borja Rubio.
