The controversial plaques could not be corrected this Tuesday, December 30, when they had the order due to the constant rains recorded on the island, according to councilor Antonio Machín.

The city council will remove the name of Santa Coloma from the sculptures at the entrance to the neighborhood on Monday

This was announced this Wednesday, December 31, by the councilor of neighborhoods of Arrecife, Antonio Machín, who explained the error "because an incorrect list was sent to the company that was in charge of designing the letters on the plaques". In addition, he assured that although he intended to correct the inscription this past Tuesday, "finally we could not do it because the weather conditions did not allow it," Machín declared.

"We will have to wait until Monday of next week to remove the letters and then the new ones will be placed with the correct name of Titerroy", explains the district mayor who has not been able to specify when they will be ready. "They are steel letters and it is not so easy to bend them and make them," justified the councilor who also indicated that "everything that the Department of Neighborhoods is doing and the material it uses is done by local companies."

The first to realize the "serious mistake" of the City Council were the residents of the neighborhood, explained the president of the Neighborhood Association, Ismael Montero, who on Monday, December 29, when the plaques were placed, "we communicated it to the councilor on the spot," he says.

In any case, from the Neighborhood Association they assure that they hope that the error will be corrected as soon as possible and they want to explain to the neighbors that "it is not that the neighborhood has changed its name but that the error is on the plaque". And, according to them, despite the error, they do not hold a grudge against the responsible mayor since they affirm that "we are very happy with the work carried out by Antonio Machín, they should name him councilor of the year," declares Montero.

"We appreciate the actions that have been carried out in the neighborhood," said the neighborhood president, who listed the inauguration of the playground in the Parque de los Pinos and the remodeling of the Parque de los Leones as two positive changes for the neighborhood. Although those are not the only requests that the neighbors demand: "we want the Plaza de Pio XII and the Rafael park to be modernized", indicated Montero.
