The Ministry of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands has authorized the advance payment of 100% of the subsidies corresponding to the year 2026 intended for the entities that make up the Canary Network of Business Innovation and Development Centers (Red CIDE), a measure that will guarantee the continuity of the innovation support services received by companies in the archipelago.
The decision benefits eight reference entities in the Canarian business ecosystem, which have been the ones to request it, including chambers of commerce, business associations, and sectoral organizations that act as nodes of the Red CIDE in different islands and areas of activity. Thanks to this advance of funds, they will be able to develop their work programs without having to resort to their own resources to temporarily finance the planned actions.
The Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture, Migdalia Machín, highlighted that "the Red CIDE plays a fundamental role in bringing innovation closer to Canarian companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises that need specialized support to incorporate new technologies, access funding, or develop innovative projects".
"With this advance payment, we guarantee that the entities that are part of the network and wish to request it can continue to provide this support from the outset, strengthening the innovative capacity and competitiveness of our business fabric," she added.
The Red CIDE is one of the main instruments for supporting business innovation in the Canary Islands. Through specialized technical staff, it offers free advice to companies and entrepreneurs to identify innovation opportunities, promote R&D&I projects, access funding programs, and improve their competitive positioning.
The grants are co-financed by the FEDER Canarias 2021-2027 Program and are part of the Government of the Canary Islands' strategy to promote knowledge transfer, business innovation, and the economic diversification of the Archipelago.
Machín stressed that "innovation is a key tool for facing the challenges of the Canarian economy and generating new opportunities for growth and quality employment. That is why we continue to strengthen instruments like the Red CIDE, which brings knowledge and innovation closer to the productive fabric of all the islands."
With this action, the Ministry reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the innovation ecosystem of the Canary Islands and to the role played by the collaborating entities of the CIDE Network as a link between knowledge, technology, and the real needs of companies.
