Agents of the National Police arrested a man at the end of May in Arrecife for allegedly having committed several crimes of theft with force in storage rooms of residential buildings in the capital of Lanzarote.

During the investigation, it was also verified that he was a fugitive from the penitentiary center where he was serving a sentence, having not returned after an authorized work release.

The investigation began after a theft with force committed in a residential building was reported, where the perpetrator accessed the interior after forcing the main door and subsequently broke into one of the storage rooms, from which he stole various belongings.

Video surveillance images allowed investigators to reconstruct the suspect's movements and identify him as a known offender specializing in property crimes.

Police efforts led to the location and arrest of the alleged perpetrator in Arrecife on May 20. At the time of the arrest, various tools susceptible of being used to commit theft with force were seized from him.

During the checks carried out, the agents became aware that the detainee was serving a sentence in a penitentiary center and had not returned after enjoying a work permit granted at the end of April.

The arrested individual, who has numerous police records for property crimes, was placed at the disposal of the judicial authority, which ordered his imprisonment.
