The CIS survey gives 22 seats in the Canary Islands Parliament to the PSOE, 19-20 to CC and 18-19 to the PP

A survey by the Center for Sociological Research (CIS) on the upcoming elections to the regional Parliament of the Archipelago presented this Friday in the Congress of Deputies, based on 1,785 interviews, grants 22 seats to the PSOE, which would be the winner of the elections by a narrow margin, while the Canarian Coalition would obtain between 19 and 20 seats and the Popular Party between 18 and 19.

The survey registers, however, 34.1 percent of people who did not want to answer the question of who they would vote for in the next elections (8.1 percent), or said they still did not know what they would do (26 percent), in addition to 7.3 percent who have already decided to abstain.

With these data, the projection on valid votes that the CIS establishes for the PSOE is 29.3 percent (19.8 of direct vote in the survey), compared to 28.3 for the PP (14 percent in the survey) and 25 percent for the Canarian Coalition (14.6 in the survey).

Nueva Canarias would not obtain representation and would be left with 2.8 percent of the votes (1.7 percent in the survey), far from the percentage necessary to access Parliament.

Likewise, Izquierda Unida would obtain 2.5 percent, after obtaining 1.9 percent of direct vote.

The study also grants 8.3 percent of the votes to "Other parties" without specifically mentioning any, although in direct vote 3.8 percent opted for them.

The information provided to the press does not detail the distribution of seats by Islands, although it does indicate the number of interviews held in each constituency: 444 in Gran Canaria, 452 in "Santa Cruz" (sic), 225 in La Palma, 222 in Lanzarote, 216 in Fuerteventura, 114 in Hierro and 112 in Gomera.
