The Cabildo of Lanzarote has received this Thursday, June 26, the institutional visit of a delegation from the Toledo Provincial Council, interested in learning firsthand about the island's tourism and economic promotion model, as well as the strategic projects linked to gastronomy, culture and economic development.
The visit was attended by the Vice President of the Toledo Provincial Council, Joaquín Romera García, accompanied by Andrés Cobos Ibáñez, Director of the Area of Employment Promotion, Economic Development, Tourism and Environment; José Manuel Quijorna García, Head of the Presidency Cabinet; and Roberto García Cervantes, Tourism and Projects technician. The delegation from Toledo was able to learn about the axes of the island's tourism model and the projects that support it, showing special interest in establishing future collaboration links.
During the morning, a technical conference was held at the Cabildo headquarters with the participation of the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Nori Machín, who welcomed the delegation and highlighted the value of this type of exchange. “Lanzarote has become a benchmark in the promotion of tourism linked to the territory, identity and excellence. Being able to share our experience with other administrations opens up new opportunities for collaboration and joint growth,” Machín pointed out.
The conference allowed the delegation from Toledo to learn about the work being carried out by the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society (SPEL), as well as projects such as Saborea Lanzarote. The management of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers (CACT) was also addressed, together with its Councilor Ángel Vázquez, as an example of integration between art, landscape and tourist experience.
The President of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, valued the visit as an opportunity to continue forging alliances. “Toledo and Lanzarote share a commitment to a quality tourism model that focuses on the value of the local. From the Cabildo we are convinced that this visit will be the beginning of an enriching collaboration for both territories,” he said.
For her part, the Vice President of the Cabildo, María Jesús Tovar, had the opportunity to hold a working table together with Senator Pedro San Ginés, and the delegation from Toledo. Tovar highlighted that “this type of institutional visits strengthen ties between territories and allow us to make visible the work that is being carried out from Lanzarote in the economy linked to the local product. Sharing our experience with Toledo is an opportunity to grow together from respect for our singularities.”
One of the main objectives of this visit is to advance in the incorporation of Toledo into the Saborea España project, with the possibility of participation of Toledo restaurants in upcoming editions of the gastronomic festival on the island, thus strengthening the network of destinations and cuisines that are committed to local products and culinary excellence.
