The Cabildo presented this Thursday morning the five new buses that will be incorporated from next Monday to the interurban transport fleet of Lanzarote.
The Councilor of the Area of Transport and Mobility, Domingo Cejas, reported in the presentation of the acquisition of the 5 new buses, which will reinforce Line 62 in the afternoon, which will allow the connection to Playa Blanca from Arrecife every 30 minutes.
Also, Domingo Cejas announced the opening of new user service offices: one in the Arrecife Interchange and another in the Playa Blanca Bus Station, destined to process vouchers and recharge them, as well as a passenger information point and facilitate use through transfers.
The renovation or restitution of information at all the stops on the island was another of the actions announced this Thursday morning in the parking lot of the Lanzarote Sports City, where the new buses enabled by the concessionaire of the service, Intercity Bus SL, were exhibited, whose representative María Cabrera, expressed the commitment to continue increasing lines and drivers that improve the service.

In this sense, from the Area of Employment of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, coordinated by Ascensión Toledo, a free training course is already underway to obtain the D+CAP driving license, which will train 15 unemployed people to become bus drivers, and a new one is being prepared for another 15.
The new vehicles marked by the European Union
Intercity Bus SL has made an investment of 1,200,000 euros to acquire, in the renting modality, the five new buses. This allows maintaining a modern and updated fleet. In fact, the average age of the same is less than 5 years, which reflects the constant renovation and the value placed on an adapted and innovative service.
In addition to the already standardized safety measures that buses always carry, ABS, ESP, etc. and the systems to help people with reduced mobility, (lifting platform, space for SS.RR.) and blind and deaf people (HTC Hanover system), the buses comply with the euro VI step E regulations, the latest in terms of emission restrictions for vehicles marked by the European Union.
To contribute to sustainability, a remote control system has been contracted that will evaluate consumption parameters and engine performance. This technology not only seeks to improve efficiency in consumption and polluting emissions, but also to reduce fleet stoppages.
María Cabrera, spokesperson for Intercity Bus, highlighted the commitment of the Mobility and Transport area of the Cabildo, as well as the involvement of the Intercity Bus team. In addition, she wanted to thank all users for their trust. "We are sure that together we will help build a more connected, more inclusive and more sustainable Lanzarote," she added.
