The Cabildo of Lanzarote illuminated the facade of its main building with the colors of the Canary Islands flag on May 29 and 30, on the occasion of the Canary Islands Day holiday.
With this initiative, the island corporation wanted to "honor the diversity and richness of the Canarian identity on a day like May 30, which commemorates the first parliamentary session held in 1983, after the approval of the Statute of Autonomy of the Canary Islands."
As president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, has reiterated his congratulations for "this day so special for all the people who live and love Lanzarote, La Graciosa and the Canary Islands, encouraging them to continue making authentic and real the story of a privileged land in the middle of the Atlantic, a land that, far from fading, has managed to shine and stand out in the world as a paradise of fortunate islands.”
