The Cabildo of Lanzarote has received from the Transparency Commissioner of the Canary Islands a rating of 9.40 in the latest evaluation of the Transparency Index (ITCanarias), which analyzes the degree of compliance with the obligations of active advertising and access to information by the institutions.
This result, corresponding to the second semester of 2023 and the year 2024, represents an improvement compared to the 9.29 achieved in the previous evaluation and confirms the upward trend that the Island Corporation has been registering in recent years. In addition, it is part of the general trend of the island councils, which have registered an average of outstanding (9.6 points), according to data released by the Transparency Commissioner of the Canary Islands.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, stressed that "this outstanding rating is the result of the effort and involvement of the Cabildo staff. In recent years we have worked intensively to raise transparency standards and modernize the administration, always with the aim that the population can access public information easily and directly."
For his part, the Minister of Transparency, Armando Santana, stressed that "the continuity of Lanzarote in the top positions of the transparency ranking certifies a constant work to provide the administration with technological tools and processes that facilitate access to information."
The ITCanarias is a evaluation and monitoring tool that allows measuring the level of transparency of administrations, ensuring that citizens have clear, updated and accessible information on public management. In the case of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, "the outstanding rating reflects the continued effort to improve communication channels and the availability of information, as well as the modernization of internal processes," they say from the institution.
