The Cabildo of Lanzarote closes the year 2024 with a "positive balance" and highlights "responsible management, political consensus and a firm commitment to the well-being of citizens and the sustainability of the island."

"This Government group has worked with facts, responsibility, motivation and enthusiasm, promoting a close and active governance model, focused on solving the real problems of the citizens of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, always prioritizing facts over words," considers Oswaldo Betancort.

Among the main achievements during this year is the "elaboration of the draft PIOT, which establishes the bases for balanced and sustainable development. In addition, social and political peace has been achieved, strengthening inter-institutional cooperation, and concrete actions have been undertaken to alleviate the lack of public housing on the island, as well as unblocking the contracting of the project for the future Tahíche Senior Residence. Effective measures have also been implemented to address the water crisis, contain growth and protect natural resources, ensuring development that respects the environment."

In the social sphere, the new Department of the Elderly has been created, which improves care for the elderly, and "various initiatives aimed at guaranteeing a better future for young people" have been promoted. These actions reflect the Cabildo's commitment to an island model that prioritizes both the well-being of citizens and the care of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, betting on balanced and sustainable growth."

Oswaldo Betancort has reaffirmed a personal and government challenge at the island level in which "happiness is a common denominator for all people born in this land, as well as for those who have chosen Lanzarote and La Graciosa as their home. With this clear vision and sustained work, the Cabildo faces 2025 with the determination to continue building a more competitive, comfortable and harmonious island with its natural environment."
