Six immigrant groups received more than a hundred toys last Friday, from the solidarity campaigns launched during Christmas so that "no child on the island would be left without gifts" during the holidays and in particular on the night of the Three Wise Men.
According to the Cabildo, thanks to "the generosity and collaboration of the citizens of this island", "needs were covered", distributing the donated toys through the Cabildo's Social Welfare area and the town councils.
Therefore, almost three weeks after the holidays, "the collaborating institutions decided to donate a small remnant of these gifts to the immigrant groups on the island".

The Councilor for Citizen Participation and Immigration of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Juan Antonio de la Hoz, was the one who delivered this batch of toys to the immigrant community of Lanzarote, to the Saharawi community of the island, to the Mauritanian community, to the 'Asociación Colombolanzaroteña' (Asoincol), to the Senegalese community of Lanzarote, and to the members of the new immigrant association 'Asociación Futuro Africano'.
Headquarters shared and ceded by the Cabildo
Juan Antonio de la Hoz explained that "all these groups share a social headquarters at number 28 Calle Tenerife in Arrecife, facilities owned by the Cabildo of Lanzarote and ceded for use to these groups for carrying out various activities for solidarity or social purposes." Among them, the Councilor for Citizen Participation and Immigration highlighted "the great social work" carried out by all these groups in the distribution and assistance to the most disadvantaged families and people in Lanzarote.
"Through this premises, in which the island's immigrant groups have been working for about three or four months, nearly 50 tons of food have been distributed to people and families in need. Food and basic necessities from the Food Bank and the Red Cross," de la Hoz pointed out.
