The Cabildo de Lanzarote will allocate more than 600,000 euros to renovate fifteen bus shelters in Costa Teguise. The institution is currently tendering the public contracting of a new project to continue improving the Urban Bus Shelter Network for regular passenger transport. In this specific case, the Cabildo de Lanzarote seeks to award the demolition and new construction of fifteen bus shelters in the town of Costa Teguise for "more than half a million euros".

The Councilor for the Area of Transport and Mobility of the Cabildo, Domingo Cejas, explained that the objective of this investment is to "improve and continue unifying the image of the urban bus shelters for regular passenger transport since we have a standard image. And in these projects, we also dedicate special attention to the accessible design of the same", he detailed.

Cejas has insisted on the need to combine the current expansion and modernization of the bus fleet with improvements in infrastructure such as interchanges, stops and bus shelters, he detailed that this project for Costa Teguise "has a planned cost of 607,048.78 euros, including taxes; and has been agreed upon after consulting with the Teguise City Council, who informed us of their needs regarding the stops in the municipality that required improvement under the design of the new image", the councilor stated.

President Oswaldo Betancort, for his part, has remarked on the "commitment" that the current Government group maintains with the promotion of public transport; and for this, he points out, "it is also essential that we have a modern and adapted Island Bus Shelter Network that allows us to be more competitive and offer a better service to the thousands of users who, I remind you, almost tripled last year", the island leader stated.

What the works will consist of

Companies that will bid for this tender to build these fifteen new bus shelters have until next August 16 to submit their proposals on the State Contracting Platform. Then, once the process is completed and the contract is formalized, the successful bidder will have eight months to complete the project once the work begins.
