The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, the vice president, Jacobo Medina, and the councilor Francisco Hernández, visited this morning the works of "Resurfacing of the LZ-35 road (San Bartolomé-Tías), in the section between the Central Avenue of Tías and La Candelaria.
The works, whose estimated duration will be two weeks, will consist of the regeneration of the pavement of the entire section as well as the placement and realization of both vertical and horizontal signage.
Corujo stressed that "this is a priority work given the deficiencies of the current road, especially in the lane towards Tías. The pavement has many cracks and deformations, and the signage is very deteriorated."
For his part, the Councilor for Public Works, Jacobo Medina, during the visit made today to the area together with the Island Director of Planning and Project Coordination, Salvador Martínez, and technicians from the institution to check the status of the works started last Monday.
Medina explained that "the poor condition of the road is largely due to the completion of the channeling works that were carried out previously and that left the pavement very irregular", so, from La Candelaria to the end of the street, the entire damaged area will be milled to achieve a good base for the new asphalt.
The works, which were awarded to the company Hormigones insulares last April for 175,262.82 euros, are fully financed by the first Island Institution.
To give greater speed, efficiency and safety in the execution of the works, the Public Works Area has opted for the total closure of the section between the roundabouts of La Candelaria and the Central Avenue for approximately one week. For the signaling works, the partial opening of the road can already be carried out.
From Public Works, users of the road are asked to drive with caution, respecting the provisional signage and the detours enabled, as well as to apologize for the inconvenience.
