The Arrecife City Council official Asenet Padrón will no longer have powers in the area of Classified Activities, although she will continue to be in charge of Patrimonial Responsibilities and Infractions, also under the direction of the deputy mayor, José Montelongo. The government group has decided to appoint Pilar Machín to assume Classified Activities, after Padrón communicated that she was "overloaded with work", according to the government group.
Alternativa Ciudadana has acknowledged that it was Padrón who communicated that "she was in charge of many departments and had a lot of work" and asked the government group to "unload" her or "put more staff" on her. However, this formation questions that the government group has "taken away" precisely the competence in Classified Activities, one of the most "conflictive".
In this sense, the councilman Domingo García has assured that he has "his suspicions" in this decision. "There has been a tremendous clash between the political leader (in this case José Montelongo) and the worker. It must be remembered that it comes from the moment when Asenet Padrón was secretary of the City Council and had that conflict with the then mayor, Cándido Reguera, Nayra Callero and José Montelongo, who entered her office", he recalled.
Even, García has pointed out "it gives the feeling that there is a kind of persecution by José Montelongo in the case of Asenet Padrón". "That's the bad thing and what shines through", he lamented. "If they put Pilar Machín now and she does well, we are delighted with life", he said, and then recalled that Padrón "reported for understanding that her office had been violated".
"They (referring to Cándido Reguera, Nayra Callero and José Montelongo) entered there and took documents, in this case, Cándido Reguera. Curiously, you see how this person who reported has been transferred from one department to another by imposition of José Montelongo", Domingo García assessed.
"Classified Activities is the most conflictive"
Faced with all this, Domingo García has assured that Classified Activities is the "most conflictive" area, since it has to do "with whether an installation opens to the public or not, whether it meets the appropriate requirements or not". "We see the specific case that affects José Montelongo, and it will seem like a personal matter, but with the case of Lude it was asked if he had an activity license or not. Asenet Padrón, as it is her responsibility, made a report based on other technical reports, where she said that it did not have a license and that was demonstrated", he indicated.
"It also has to do with the Palace of Justice of Lanzarote, which is also pending regularization. Her responsibility was to give a report as the rule dictates", recalled Domingo García, who insisted that Padrón was the one who until now reported to "grant or not the appropriate licenses".
