The Arrecife City Council proceeded on Thursday morning to deposit the transport grants, destined for university students of the municipality. A total of 543 young people have benefited from this subsidy that the capital City Council grants annually.

The Departments of Education and the Local Development Agency, supervised by Paca Toledo and Eva de Anta, respectively, have allocated a budget of 117,000 euros for these grants for the transport of university students from the municipality who are studying outside the island, as they have announced through a statement.

According to the Councilor for Education, Paca Toledo, the purpose of this aid is to collaborate with students who are studying university degrees or higher or intermediate level training cycles outside the island. "The added expenses derived from double insularity force us, as an administration, to contribute economically with our young people and their families, in order to have trained and responsible professionals and citizens in the future," Toledo points out.

The aforementioned subsidies are intended to help students in air or sea travel from Lanzarote to the place where their study center is located. It should also be noted that the municipal transport subsidy is compatible with any other linked to the same purpose and granted by any other administration.
