The mayor of Arrecife, Cándido Reguera, signed a decree this Thursday allowing the Christmas Market, located in the José Ramírez Cerdá Park, to be installed in this same area of the capital from next Monday, December 27, to January 7. In this way, the capital's first mayor backtracks and tries to put an end to the controversy surrounding the opening of this traditional market during the Christmas season.

Reguera has signed this decree, after holding a meeting with representatives of street vendors, and taking advantage of the power granted to him by the ordinances to modify them in special circumstances. Both the government group of the Arrecife City Council and the street vendors "have expressed their satisfaction" after finally reaching a satisfactory agreement regarding this Christmas Market, according to the capital's Consistory.

It should be remembered that this same Thursday, the market stallholders have delivered 103 signatures from businesses to the City Council defending the permanence of these street vendors.
