The Teguise City Council and the Maramajo Livestock Association of the municipality have signed an agreement, by which the use of a space in the Agrotechnological Center area is granted to store fodder, grain, cereals, etc., and to supply the various members of the association during the two years of the contract's validity.
During the signing of the agreement, the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, reiterated that “one of the projects that this institution has pursued over the years is to restore the Teguise Complex to its main function, which is none other than to serve the primary sector of Teguise, especially, and Lanzarote in general, to be able to transform, store, keep in chambers and serve as a platform for the sale of their products." "For this reason, we have responded to the request for free use of a warehouse or storage so that this association can carry out the activity related to its statutory purposes in the municipality,” he added.

From the Teguise City Council it is indicated that the assignments of use are intended to provide social entities without profit, whether associations or foundations, with a social headquarters or a space where they can develop their activities and achieve their objectives always "with a certain vocation of stability or continuity, thus signifying a point of reference for its members and the citizenry in general."
"The de-escalation in Teguise also involves boosting the primary sector, as has been worked jointly between the City Council and agricultural and livestock representatives, with the firm commitment to continue activating agreements and give shape to the projects that are being forged," Betancort said.
Projects in favor of the sector
Among the initiatives that are being developed from the Agriculture and Livestock area, its head Gerardo Rodríguez highlights the development of a Teguise Brand designation seal and an online platform for the sale of products from the sector; as well as the creation of a federation of agricultural and fishing associations.
"An agreement will also be sealed soon between the City Council and the IES Teguise, which encourages generational change and bets on training; containers for dead animals will be given to livestock farms; and actions have been launched to promote direct sales from the field to the table, ecological gardens and the upcoming transfer of a warehouse with the Agrarian Transformation Society SAT El Jable, in addition to the relevant subsidy bases for the primary sector," the mayor has listed.
