Teguise and Tinajo could again complicate the approval of the budget of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, which the manager Esteban García intends to take to the plenary session in the second week of February. Although García is confident that these accounts, which have been extended since 2009, will go ahead, these two town councils still have their doubts and will not give in if the draft does not include their requests.
Teguise has not yet decided its vote, according to its press office. Its decision will depend on whether the Consortium accepts that the security and surveillance on Famara beach lasts all year round, which seems difficult to include in the accounts.
For its part, Tinajo assures that "no one has contacted" the Town Hall, so they do not even know if the draft budgets have already been drawn up. Councillor Antonio Morales indicates that "until he sees the draft", he will not decide his vote.
"To approve it, we need to see significant changes in the accounts, because in the previous draft we saw many points with which we did not agree", says Antonio Morales, who also criticises the fact that a meeting has not been convened with the municipalities to talk about the Consortium's budgets.
Confidence in approval
Despite the doubts maintained by both Consistories, the manager of the Consortium, Esteban García, assures that all the administrative documentation is already prepared and that the approval of the budgets will probably be taken to the plenary session in the second week of February.
Esteban García assures that he has "confidence" that these accounts, which have been left on the table on more than one occasion, will finally be approved. "In principle, the majority of the mayors have given the go-ahead to the budgets", indicates García, who assures that there is only "one town hall" that has put "problems".
