Technicians from the Arrecife City Council are evaluating an abandoned house in the back of Coronel Bens street, after one of its walls collapsed last Friday as a result of the strong wind that hit the island.
This has been confirmed by the Councilor for Urban Planning, Vicente Dorta, who has indicated that the technicians are already studying the situation "to see if the demolition or closure of the building is appropriate."
Even so, Dorta explains that until there is a technical report, nothing can be done and that it will also be necessary to talk to the owner of the building to see who takes charge of either the demolition or the closure. "If it were a building with serious danger, the City Council could act ex officio, but if not, it needs authorization from the property."
The Councilor for Urban Planning assures that this is not the only house that is being evaluated by the technicians in the capital. "In Arrecife there are many houses in this state, especially due to the rains that have occurred and the poor maintenance, and we are studying the houses that are in danger of collapse".
