Given the increasing number of complaints from residents of San Bartolomé about the continuous water cuts, the lack of pressure in homes, and the difficulties of the primary sector, the San Bartolomé City Council has decided to launch a citizen service dedicated to collecting and managing these claims.
This service aims to facilitate communication of residents' problems with the service concessionaire, Canal Gestión, and to transfer citizens' demands weekly to the Insular Water Consortium.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, emphasizes the importance of this initiative and argues that "it is unacceptable that our residents do not feel heard in the face of repeated water supply problems. As a City Council, we have the responsibility to be an effective bridge between the community and the authorities responsible for ensuring a quality service of a fundamental right such as water."
"The inefficiency of Canal Gestión has generated an unsustainable situation, and it is our duty to act quickly to defend the rights of our residents," concludes the mayor.
The City Council has agreed that all complaints and suggestions will be forwarded weekly to the president of the Cabildo and the Insular Water Consortium, Oswaldo Betancort, as well as to the counselor of the Water Consortium, Domingo Cejas.
The new citizen service line will be available by calling 928 520 128 Ext. 1236 for San Bartolomé and Ext. 1754 for Playa Honda, with service hours from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. In addition, face-to-face attention will be provided in both offices to facilitate access for all citizens.
The primary sector, composed of agricultural farms that depend on a constant water supply, is also suffering considerably from the lack of a quality service, so, with this measure, the San Bartolomé City Council reaffirms its commitment to listen to and address the needs of citizens, as well as to promote solutions that guarantee a dignified and efficient service for all residents of the municipality.
