The San Bartolomé City Council continues with its "commitment to maintaining and consolidating" the municipality's wine sector with the legalization of the El Grifo, Los Bermejos and La Florida wineries. These wineries have the regularization that would provide these establishments with legal security and guarantee the safety and health of their workers and visitors.

This was confirmed by the mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, who explained that these establishments "have the qualifying titles required by the regulations on classified activities in the Canary Islands, after submitting the required documentation such as the industrial technical project."

The requirements are the discharge authorization, granted by the Lanzarote Island Water Council, the structural safety certificate, the accreditation of compliance with hygienic-sanitary conditions and the payment of the corresponding fee in accordance with the fiscal ordinance. Likewise, the mayor highlighted the “excellent legal and technical work by the workers to achieve this progress.”

For her part, the Councilor for Urban Planning, Marlene Romero, pointed out that "all of this means providing legal security to these internationally prestigious wineries, as well as guaranteeing the safety and health not only of the workers, but also of the numerous visitors they receive."

In this sense, the Councilor for Agriculture, Alexis Hernández, emphasized the importance of wineries in maintaining and conserving the agricultural landscape of the Island, in reducing the abandonment of farms, in creating employment and in the growth of wine tourism or oenological tourism, among other benefits.

To conclude, the mayor stated that his wish is "that the competent administration for the approval of the Special Plan for La Geria do so with due speed and take into account the winemakers and the demands that constitute an old demand of the wine sector of Lanzarote."
