With the arrival of the summer period, the San Bartolomé City Council has carried out numerous actions on the municipality's coastline to "fine-tune" its beaches.

“Our avenue is a family space where neighbors and visitors come together, so the work we do is constant. The improvement in accessibility to the beach with the installation of access walkways, showers adapted for people with reduced mobility and new surveillance posts has been one of the actions carried out, together with the continuous improvement of street furniture, repair and painting of walls along the entire Avenue, cleaning work, improvement of garden areas, and manual and mechanical screening of the sand on the beach,” said the mayor, Alexis Tejera.

Currently, the beaches are monitored by the Red Cross, with a permanent post on the beaches of Juan El Curita and Guacimeta, and on the coastline.

The surveillance will be extended to the summer months and the months with the highest influx of neighbors and visitors, according to the Councilor for Security, Mamadou Yero Cy Sisse.

In addition, the aesthetics of the old beach watchtower has been improved, which has become an "identifying image" of Guacimeta.

The Councilor for Public Services and Health, Raúl de León, insists that "the work that is carried out is constant, including, among others, monthly controls of the water and sand to know that they are at all times in perfect condition."

"The Playa Honda Avenue is a benchmark and the most traveled space for local families, so care is constant and cleaning and improvements are a priority for the Department," he concluded.
