The City Council of San Bartolomé and Endesa have signed, with the mediation of the Ministry of Employment, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, an agreement for the execution of the necessary facilities to proceed with the electrification of the industrial, commercial and service area of Playa Honda.
This agreement updates the electricity supply needs of this town, which had become "outdated by modifying its buildability", and gives the green light to the works, according to the Ministry.
The signing of the agreement was attended by the Minister of Employment, Industry and Commerce, Francisca Luengo, the Mayor of San Bartolomé, Dolores Corujo, the General Director of Endesa in the Canary Islands, Pablo Casado, and the Director of Distribution of Endesa in the Canary Islands, Javier Sánchez.
Under the agreement, Endesa will process, execute and put into service the necessary facilities, with the City Council of San Bartolomé acting as manager and the facilities remaining under the ownership of Endesa, which will be responsible for their operation and exploitation.
Endesa will manage with Red Eléctrica de España the access and connection of the network extension facilities to be developed with the 66kV network. The total cost of the facilities amounts to 1,316,664 euros. The signatories of the agreement have valued the efforts made by Luengo to facilitate the signing and have highlighted the importance of industrial development on an island like Lanzarote.
