The President of the Canary Islands Government, Paulino Rivero, arrived in Lanzarote this weekend to fulfill an agenda full of events. Thus, on Saturday he inaugurated the sanitation, purification and reuse of water works in Órzola and the Doctor Julio Santiago Obeso Psychosocial Rehabilitation Unit, among other infrastructures.
The first inauguration took place at 10:00 a.m. in Tahíche, with the psychosocial center, which bears the name of the psychiatrist Julio Santiago. "He developed his entire medical life in Lanzarote. He was a promoter and co-founder for the defense of the psychic patient, he claimed and fought to improve the quality of life of these patients", indicated the Minister of Social Services, Marci Acuña, who at this inauguration was accompanied by Paulino Rivero, as well as by the President of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, the Councilor of the Canary Islands Government, Inés Rojas, and the Director of the General State Administration, Orlando Suárez.
This center has involved an investment of 2.3 million euros and will begin operating during this month of April. "The transfers of patients who are from Lanzarote but are currently admitted to Gran Canaria are already scheduled", said Acuña, who stated that this infrastructure "does justice to a 15-year demand".
This center has a capacity of 35 places in a residential regime and 15 places for day stay. The infrastructure is already equipped, although "some small details" remain to be finalized, according to Marci Acuña, who insisted that this work has been done in "record time".

He was also accompanied to this event by the President of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, as well as by the Mayor of Haría, José Torres Stinga.
