The Roads and Works area of the Teguise City Council informs that in a few days the renovation of streetlights in the town of Costa Teguise will begin, specifically, in one of the main arteries, Islas Canarias Avenue, as well as in Las Olas Street and adjacent areas.
The City Council tendered the project for the installation of new low-consumption LED streetlights, which was awarded to the company IMESAPI, SA, for an amount of 160,777.12 euros, in order to homogenize and update the lighting infrastructures of Costa Teguise and the rest of the municipality to more energy-efficient technology.
The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, has stated that "the Teguise City Council continues to implement this technology in phases, for which it is necessary to uninstall part of the existing streetlights and take advantage of part of the pipes that are in good condition and comply with current regulations, and continue betting on a new, more efficient and modern lighting system."
The next step will be the complete renovation of Cocederos Avenue, from the La Mareta Residence to the Las Cucharas pier, with new lampposts that will improve the lighting of Bastián and El Jablillo beaches, and the entire Costa Teguise promenade, once the commitment acquired by the Energy area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote with the Teguise City Council materializes, while the installation of solar streetlights continues in rural or newly developed areas.
