The City Council of Teguise has reported the publication of the resolution by which the Simplified Strategic Environmental Assessment procedure is initiated of the Provisional Municipal Ordinance of Alignments and Slopes of the nuclei of Caleta de Famara and Caleta de Sebo on the island of La Graciosa.
The announcement published by the Vice-Ministry of Territorial Planning and Demographic Challenge of the Government of the Canary Islands establishes that both the draft Ordinance and the strategic environmental document are now submitted to the consultation of the affected public administrations and interested parties for a period of 45 working days, while the documentation of the file may be consulted by the interested population.
The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, explains that "the objective of this ordinance, whose scope of application is the urban land classified by the Subsidiary Regulations of Teguise of 2003, of Caleta de Famara and Caleta de Sebo, within the Natural Park of the Chinijo Archipelago, is the regulation of alignments and slopes of the urban land of these population centers to determine the limits of the land for private use and the land for public use, as well as their roads".
"In short," explains the mayor, "the aim is to develop a useful, as well as efficient, planning instrument to solve the problems that have arisen over the years, due to not having a planning system that adequately regulates the alignments and slopes of these urban environments of our municipality".
It should be remembered that the Master Plan for Use and Management of the Chinijo Archipelago (PRUG) of 2006 was annulled by court ruling in 2017 due to the absence of the Natural Resources Management Plan of the Chinijo Archipelago.
The Councilor for Urban Planning, Rita Hernandez, explains that "from now on, with the approval of the Provisional Municipal Ordinance of Alignments and Slopes of Caleta de Famara and La Graciosa, it will be possible to establish the correct limit that separates the land destined for roads or public spaces from the buildable plots of private or public property in the urban land".
After the period of 45 working days, the Environmental Body dependent on the Vice-Ministry of Territorial Planning and Demographic Challenge will issue the corresponding Environmental Assessment Report, which will be published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands and transferred to the City Council of Teguise.
"Thus, once the aforementioned Report has been received," says the Councilor for Urban Planning, "from the City Council we will be able to definitively approve the ordinance following the following procedure, first the initial approval by the Plenary; then the document will be submitted again to public information and hearing to the interested parties for a minimum period of thirty days for the presentation of claims and suggestions".
Hernández details that "after the resolutions of all the claims and suggestions presented, the ordinance can be definitively approved by the Plenary of the corporation".
