Coalición Canaria has thanked "the support received" in the face of the call for a strike by the CACTS, "by the majority of social, business, economic and political forces on the island", but regrets that the socialist Manuel Fajardo "has promised the workers to accept their demands after the elections, also encouraging the workers to pressure the Government Group that is in difficulties due to being in a minority". The members of the Government urge Manuel Fajardo to "publicly clarify his position" or "deny" the existence of that agreement with the workers.
An extraordinary council
The socialists, for their part, have made public this Thursday the existence of a request signed by Manuel Fajardo and Lourdes Bernal, of the PSC of Lanzarote, María José Docal of the PIL, Pedro Hernández as councilor of Alternativa Ciudadana and Juan Manuel de la Nuez, of the Business Committee of the Centers, for the celebration of an Extraordinary and Urgent Board of Directors of the EPEL that manages the Tourist Centers.
The objective of the session is to request information from the CEO of the EPEL or the President regarding the status of the negotiation of the collective agreement with the workers. They will also request data on the draft report issued by KPGM Auditors in relation to the Public Limited Company that governed the destinies of the CACT during the year 2004 and EPEL in the following years.
They also want to know the mercantile registry status in which the Public Limited Company and the EPEL are located, "both in terms of their registration and the presentation of their Annual Accounts in the Mercantile Registry" by the CEO or the President. The signatories also request information on the employment contracts "of any kind" made by the EPEL since its creation and procedures followed for signing them by the CEO and "especially the expired and expiring contracts and payments made and to be made", to the professionals Ignacio Calatayud Prats and Juana Fernández de las Heras.
Other issues that will be discussed will be the labor situation of the EPEL worker, Carlos Paéz; the hiring of personnel during the period after the strike notice; the campaign to promote Lanzarote wine; the disciplinary file opened to the worker Humberto Bailón Casanova and the details of the cleaning contract that the EPEL had or has signed with GEPROMA.
According to the request document, "given the extreme importance of the proposed points and the situation of collective conflict that is being experienced in the EPEL, without the President or the CEO having convened the Board of Directors, the signatories require that the call requested by this letter take place before the date scheduled as the start of the called strike".
