The island coordinator of Podemos in Lanzarote has called an “urgent and extraordinary” session of the Island Assembly for this Friday, November 26 at 7:00 p.m., to discuss its possible incorporation into the Cabildo's government group. The purple formation reports that “the political lines that should be put on the table in the negotiation with the Socialist Party” will be discussed there, following its invitation to reach an agreement “that guarantees the governability of the Cabildo de Lanzarote for the remainder of the legislature.”
For Podemos, after two and a half years of socialist government with the PP, it is essential that the PSOE demonstrate a “real and unequivocal willingness to leave behind the predatory and antisocial policies of the Popular Party and commit to the fight against climate change, against corruption and to work for economic diversification”.
They also announce from Podemos that they will ask for “specific facts” from the Island Council Government that demonstrate this “change of trend”, since they maintain that it is “difficult to trust a person who, on the day he broke with the PP, stated that he had not had any problems with the right-wing councillors.”
The formation affirms that after this debate, a negotiating commission “will be in charge of initiating conversations with the PSOE”, always respecting “the policies mandated by the bases and the electoral program.” If the negotiation culminates in some type of agreement, Podemos explains that then “it will have to be submitted to a telematic citizen consultation to obtain the final endorsement.” In that consultation, the party clarifies that “all people registered in Podemos who reside on the island” could vote.
