Podemos has confirmed that the municipal spokesperson for the party circle in San Bartolomé, Antonio Ruiz, will be the one to take office as the new councilor in the City Council, following the resignation of councilor Maite Gorriz and the resignation of the next three on the electoral list presented by Lanzarote en Pie - Sí Podemos in this Consistory.
Both Ruiz and the purple formation wanted to highlight the work of the outgoing councilor, whose resignation was ratified this Friday in the Plenary. "She carried out interesting initiatives that aimed to improve the lives of the residents of the municipality," highlighted the next councilor, who will join the City Council in the next plenary session.
For its part, the Insular Network of Podemos Lanzarote also states that it is "very satisfied" with the work of Maite Gorriz and her team, "despite the snub to the opposition by the socialist mayor". The purple formation, which insists that the resignation is due to "personal reasons", states that Gorriz "represented with commitment and coherence a broad political space from generosity and good spirit." "It was a pride and a pleasure to work side by side with Maite and her team and we are sure that we can continue to count on them in this new stage," says Ana Nácher, insular coordinator and member of the circle of San Bartolomé.
In the same way, the insular coordinator wanted to wish "luck, success and achievements" to Antonio Ruiz in this new stage as councilor and has offered his collaboration to make "a responsible and constructive opposition from the left".
In this regard, from Podemos they affirm that the next councilor "intends to follow the same constructive path and focus his institutional work on the social welfare of the people who need it most."
As they explain in a statement, "Ruiz is a native of Asturias and arrived in Lanzarote for the first time in 1991, where he resides in the town of Playa Honda and is committed to the neighborhood movement." In December of last year he was elected spokesperson for the municipal circle Podemos San Bartolomé.
"It is a pride for me to assume this responsibility from which I will try to supervise the socialist absolute majority and be at the service of the families of Playa Honda, San Bartolomé and all the towns of the municipality," said the future councilor.
