PIL ASKS FOR A PLENARY SESSION TO SEEK A SOLUTION BETWEEN GOVERNMENT AND OPPOSITION

PIL lashes out at its partners for the strike and criticizes San Ginés for "adding fuel to the fire"

The PIL has sent a statement criticizing the actions of its government partners of CC and PSOE in the CACT strike. "Given the statements of some and others, it may seem that they are playing politics with the strike in the Tourist Centers," consider the insularists, who demand "solutions and solutions to the problem and not add fuel to the fire."

They precisely accuse the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, of this, and describe it as "unheard of" that "he does not put himself "directly at the head of the serious problem, given that the statements of the workers made it clear that the dialogue with the CEO or the political head of the branch has been lost." In addition, he criticizes that, instead, the president dedicates himself "to pronounce on Facebook adding fuel to the fire." "It is also unheard of that the PSOE makes statements against the Cabildo Government while being in the government group itself," he adds.

From the PIL they point out that already at the beginning of the conflict they attended "with concern" a "political show representation" at the door of one of the Tourist Centers "between a public official of the PSOE and the counselor of the CACT", in reference to the socialist councilor in Haría, Alfredo Villalba, and the counselor Echedey Eugenio. "And after two weeks of strike, not only has an agreement not been reached, but irresponsibly it is becoming a crossfire of statements from some politicians against others," they criticize.

"Curiously, the two parties that in 2014 signed an agreement with the workers, which they sold as a success, as a milestone for the company, and that began to have conflicts a month after it was signed. Now they are the same two parties that instead of solving the mess lead us to deception. All this at the expense of the image and interests of Lanzarote and keeping the Tourist Centers closed in the middle of August," the islanders reproach CC and PSOE, who insist that "we must be sensible and try everyone to find a solution to a problem that cannot last forever."

Petition for an urgent island plenary session

The PIL affirms that while the workers defend that the agreement signed in 2014 is not applied and that the management of the Tourist Centers maintains the opposite, they said "from the beginning that the best thing was to ask the competent body for a clarification of the sentence, which would avoid the misunderstandings that appeared." However, it questions that "the management did not ask for such clarification, and so we are."

In this way, at this point, the islanders ask the parties for "generosity and responsibility" towards the island and the Tourist Centers, "which belong to everyone." If there is no possibility of reaching a point of agreement on the interpretations of some and others, we can only wait to comply with the sentences and for the next judicial resolutions to put things in their place and give the reason to whoever it corresponds. It is simply a matter of a few months. But the Centers cannot be closed for so long. It is not in the interest of either the company or the workers. And Lanzarote cannot afford it," the party considers.

In this sense, the PIL believes that "the courts will undoubtedly give the reason to whoever has it", but that "the priority must be the general interest on the part of everyone", since 15 days of total strike in the Centers in the middle of August "is not permissible for the economy of our fragile island." "Perhaps an urgent island plenary session is already necessary to address the situation clearly among all. The PIL is available to everyone. A little perspective, for once, would not hurt," he concludes.
